We've always found that the best way to explore San Miguel is by foot. The easiest way to explore is to start in El Jardin and work your way out. We'd recommend the following sites.
Places to Visit
Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel. 17th century church located right off of El Jardin.
Plaza de Toros San Miguel de Allende. Many of you may know about Andrés' family's rich history of Arruza bullfighters. Take a trip just up the hill from El Jardin for a tour of the bull ring.
Parque Benito Juarez. Take a stroll through the park, sit on a bench and people watch, or bring a good book and sit in the shade.
Eat & Drink
Cumpanio. Diane has a moderate to severe obsession with the breakfast at Cumpanio, and the attached bakery. She's been known too order 2-3 of their rosemary & apricot or apple tarts and put them in her purse for a mid-morning snack. Great place to grab coffee and an easy breakfast before setting out for the day.
El Correo. Classic home-style Mexican food. A great lunch spot with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere right off of El Jardin.
La Azotea. One of the best rooftop bars of the city, a great place for happy hour (you MUST order the jicama tacos) or a night cap.
